2026 is shaping up to be a big year, and we’d love you to be part of it. Whether you’re a local, a regular visitor to Mission Beach, or just someone who cares about cassowaries, the environment and the place we live, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
We’re currently looking for volunteers to help out across a few key areas this year:
At the Environment Centre
Help welcome visitors, share what’s happening locally, and be part of the friendly front-of-house team that keeps the centre ticking along. More info.
With cassowaries at Garners Beach
Support our work at the cassowary rehabilitation facility, helping to care for and monitor these injured and orphaned birds alongside our experienced team. More info.
With community events
Get involved in planning and running the events that bring our community together – from set-up and pack-down to helping things run smoothly on the day.
With tree planting and the nursery
If you like getting your hands dirty, there are also opportunities in our nursery and onsite planting trees. More info.
